F-35B of USAF Vertical Landing

This is the fifth generation jet fighter of USAF, the Lockheed Martin F-35B while conducting vertical landing. Take a look at the rear-end of the jet, the thrust nozzle is retracting down. The retracted nozzle is providing lift force that makes a jet fighter looks like a helicopter.

The -B variant is the special variant that has ability to do short takeoff as well as vertical landing. The F-35 was competed with Boeing X-32 to win joint strike fighter held by United States government.The joint strike fighter requirements are stealth, ability to do short takeoff, vertical landing and fold-able wings.
